Client Management Advisory Notice

 |
From Client Management Operations
Subject Allocate And Claim System (ACS) -- Update - Enhancement To API Message Function.
Effective Date 12/20/02
Notice Number CMO#0325

Effective with the launch of the new ACS system on January 10, 2003, we will be implementing a new give-up API message type designation of GUC to accommodate sub-allocations and third-party give-ups.

The examples below help to illustrate when the new message will be created:

  • Marking an accepted give-up for sub-allocation

When the carry firm marks an accepted give-up trade for sub-allocation or to be given up to another firm, the following message types are created:

GUC: sent to carrying firm, confirming the intent to sub-allocate

GSA: sent to carrying firm, acknowledging creation of the order

GUS-API can now receive a GA message, allowing the carry firm (now executing firm) to allocate.

  • Sub-allocating accepted give-ups and specifying sub-allocation accounts

When the carry firm (now executing firm) accepts a give-up and allocates part or all of the accepted give-up to a different account within the same firm, the following messages are created:

GUC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), confirming the intent to sub-allocate

GSA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), acknowledging creation of the order

GAC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), informing of allocation

GAA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), shows new allocation account

GUS-API can now receive a GC message to accept a sub-allocated give-up.

  • Message types created when using the auto-accept rule

When the Carry firm (now executing firm) allocates part or all of accepted give-up to different accounts, and auto-accept rules are in place, the following messages are created.

GUC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), confirming the intent to sub-allocate

GSA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), acknowledging creation of the order

GAC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), informing of the allocation

GAA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), showing the new allocation account

GCA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), showing the allocation acceptance

GCC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), showing the allocation acceptance

  • Marking an accepted give-up for third-party Give-up

When the carry firm (now executing firm) accepts a give-up, and allocates part or all of the accepted give-up to a different firm and account, the following message types are created:

GUC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), confirming the intent to sub-allocate

GSA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), acknowledging creation of the order

GAC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), informing of allocation

GAA: sent to new carrying firm (third-party firm), shows new allocation firm and account

GUS-API can now receive a GC message to accept sub-allocated give-up.

  • Message types created when using the auto-accept rule

When carry firm (now executing firm) allocates part or all of an accepted give-up to a different firm and account, and auto-accept rule in place, the following messages are created:

GUC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), confirming the intent to sub-allocate

GSA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), acknowledging creation of the order

GAC: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), informing of allocation

GAA: sent to new carrying firm (third-party firm), shows new allocation firm and account

GCA: sent to carrying firm (now executing firm), shows allocation acceptance

GCC: sent to new carrying firm (third-party firm), shows new allocation firm and account
